Gabriele Lippi

I design and build apps with a soul.

Philosophy taught me how to think, ten years of shipping software how to build, and AI lets me do both faster than ever. Six apps of mine are on Google Play, and I’m open to contract work on yours.

Seven apps, one maker

I design, build, price and ship them on my own, and each gets its own world: a palette, a voice, sometimes a character. None has ads, analytics or an account to make.

  • Cachette

An encrypted vault. The pattern you draw is the key.

    Paid · Google Play: Cachette

  • HoraLuz

Spain’s hourly electricity price at a glance: green is cheap, red is dear, and the cheapest window is already marked.

Free, Plus is a one-time unlock · Google Play: HoraLuz

  • Mercè

Barcelona’s festival, the whole programme, offline and in three languages.

Free, Pro is a one-time unlock · Google Play: Mercè

  • ₿launcher

A home screen of type alone: your apps, the time, the live Bitcoin price.

    Free, one-time unlock · Google Play: ₿launcher

  • GPS Genius

Is this position any good? A plain answer, then every number behind it.

Free, one-time unlock · Google Play: GPS Genius

  • Soonest

A private calendar where far-off days stay quiet and what’s close grows warmer.

Coming soon to Google Play · free, no ads, no tracking

  • Fewest

A quiet launcher for opening distracting apps less.

Free, one-time Premium · Google Play: Fewest

Every app has its own page, privacy policy and terms on Projects, and all of them are on my Google Play developer page.

The true, the good and the beautiful

Philosophy has three old words for what makes a thing worth having. I use them as the brief for every app.

True verum

It never lies to you.

No ads, no tracking, no dark patterns. Each app says plainly what it does and what it can’t: Cachette tells you before you buy it that a forgotten pattern means a lost vault. Every privacy policy matches its Play Data safety form.

Good bonum

It does its job well, and keeps doing it.

Tests first, small steps, code that stays easy to change: the habits of a software craftsman. Offline first where it matters, and builds that guard themselves — a Cachette build that adds network access fails.

Beautiful pulchrum

It’s a pleasure to look at and to use.

Every detail chosen, nothing left at its default. HoraLuz turns a tariff into a traffic light; ₿launcher is nothing but type; Mercè takes its colours from the festival poster.

Made with AI. Decided by a person.

AI agents are in every step of my work: research, specs, code, tests, copy — this website included.

What they can’t supply is judgement: what the product is for, what to leave out, when a detail is finally right. That part is mine, and it’s the part you hire me for. The craft I learned before AI is what keeps the speed safe.

Tests before code
“Done” is defined before anything is written, by me or by a model, and stays true afterwards.
Small, readable steps
Every change small enough to read, understand and undo. Nothing ships that I can’t explain.
The platform, not a wrapper
Native Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, the system’s own components and permissions, and the fewest dependencies that will do.

Work with me

I’m open to contract work: remote from Spain, in English, Italian, Spanish or Catalan.

  • Your app, from idea to store

Product shape, interface, Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, billing, privacy policy and store listing: the whole road I take with each of my own apps.

  • An app that works but doesn’t delight

Design direction and engineering for the details that make an app feel made with care, from typography to motion to copy.

  • ClojureScript and the frontend

re-frame, Reagent, UIx, React and TypeScript, and data visualisation. In production at Pitch; merged work in Logseq and Penpot.

  • A codebase that’s hard to change

Tests around what matters, then careful improvement one small step at a time, as I did with legacy systems at Lifull Connect.

Where the craft comes from

A master’s in philosophy at the University of Milan taught me to keep a long line of thought coherent. Ten years of shipping software taught me to do it in code, for the people who maintain it.

  1. Fincons Group — my start: requirements, QA and SQL in enterprise software.

  2. Accurat — rich data-visualisation interfaces with React and D3.

  3. Codurance — software craftsman: TDD, extreme programming, clean architecture.

  4. Lifull Connect — full-stack: legacy rescue and greenfield products.

  5. Artificial Solutions — a complex flow-design application in React.

  6. Pitch — data-visualisation tools in ClojureScript.

Since 2023, independent: my own apps, and contract work for others. The longer story · CV
