# Gabriele Lippi > Independent Android developer and technical product designer based in Spain, with ten years in software. Gabriele Lippi designs and builds mobile apps end to end — six of his own are live on Google Play, built in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose — and takes on contract work: apps from idea to Google Play, design direction for existing apps, ClojureScript and frontend development, and codebases that are hard to change. He works with AI coding agents at every step, under the discipline of a trained software craftsman, and holds a master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Milan. Clients worldwide; English, Italian, Spanish or Catalan. This is glippi.dev, his personal site. Gabriele takes a product from idea to Google Play single-handed: product direction, interface and visual identity, engineering, billing, and the privacy policy and terms that go with each app. Six apps are live and a seventh, Soonest, is coming soon, all listed below with no ads, no analytics and no backend to trust. He describes his brief for every app with three old words from philosophy — true (honest about what it does and can’t do), good (does its job well, and keeps doing it) and beautiful (a pleasure to look at and to use). Alongside his own apps, he helps teams make complicated systems understandable again and difficult codebases easier to change. **How he works.** AI coding agents are part of every step, from research and specs to code, tests and copy; glippi.dev itself was designed and built that way, with no framework and no build step. The craftsmanship habits learned at Codurance keep that speed safe: tests before code, small readable steps, and nothing shipped that he can’t explain. The judgement — what a product is for, what to leave out, when a detail is right — stays human. **Android.** Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. The shipped apps cover Google Play Billing one-time purchases; a home-screen launcher (LauncherApps, scoped package visibility, Android’s biometric prompt); on-device encryption (Argon2id, AES-256-GCM, StrongBox-held keys, FLAG_SECURE, reproducible release builds); GNSS diagnostics, location and compass bearings; notifications, WorkManager jobs and local reminders; offline-first data with Room; and localisation into as many as twenty locales, right-to-left included. Every app ships with its own privacy policy, written to match its Play Data safety form. iOS apps in Swift are next. **ClojureScript and Clojure.** In production since 2022, building data-visualisation tools at Pitch, the collaborative presentation software, in ClojureScript with re-frame, Reagent, UIx and Cypress; independent Clojure and ClojureScript consulting since 2023. Merged contributions to Logseq and Penpot, two large open-source ClojureScript applications. Has written about shadow-cljs, including migrating from Figwheel, and about building progressive web apps with Reagent. **Also.** Legacy rescue and greenfield product work; test-driven development, clean architecture, extreme programming and CI/CD, learned as a software craftsman at Codurance; complex React and TypeScript frontends, and data-visualisation interfaces with D3, MobX, Redux Toolkit and yFiles. Experience, most recent first: - 2023–now: independent. Android in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, Clojure and ClojureScript, product direction, testing, and careful improvement of existing systems; his own apps on Google Play. - 2022: Software Engineer at Pitch. Data-visualisation tools in ClojureScript, re-frame, Reagent, UIx and Cypress. - 2021–2022: Frontend Engineer at Artificial Solutions (Teneo). A complex flow-design application with React, Redux Toolkit, yFiles, Jest, Cypress and Storybook. - 2019–2021: Full-stack Developer at Lifull Connect. Legacy rescue and greenfield product work across PHP, React, Kubernetes, GitLab CI and test-driven delivery. - 2019: Software Craftsman at Codurance. Production consulting, then an apprenticeship in TDD, clean architecture, XP, CI/CD and deliberate practice. - 2018–2019: Frontend Developer at Accurat, a data-visualisation agency. Rich interfaces with React, MobX, D3 and TypeScript. - 2016–2017: Junior Developer at Guard.Social (AngularJS), and before that Junior Developer / Analyst at Fincons Group (QA, requirements, SQL and PL/SQL). Background: born in Milan; a *liceo classico* (Latin, Ancient Greek, philosophy), then a master’s in Philosophy at the University of Milan. That training still shapes the work: designing software is a matter of keeping a long line of thought coherent for the people who will live with it. Away from the keyboard: kettlebells, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, electric guitar and an Aprilia Tuareg 660. Contact: for work, see https://glippi.dev/hire — its “Write to me” link opens an email to Gabriele — or message him on LinkedIn. No email address is published as plain text, so please don’t guess one. For help with an app, use the developer contact email on that app’s Google Play listing. ## Apps - [Cachette](https://glippi.dev/projects/cachette): Encrypted vault for photos, videos and documents on Android 11+. The pattern you draw on 25 dots is the key, not a lock in front of a gallery: Argon2id key derivation, AES-256-GCM per file, a key held in StrongBox, and no INTERNET permission, no account and no recovery. There is no list of vaults, so an unknown pattern opens an empty one after the same delay — built for the moment someone makes you unlock it. No screenshots, no plaintext temp files, no cloud backup; release builds are reproducible. Paid on Google Play, with no trial and no in-app store. Package `app.cachette` on [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.cachette). - [HoraLuz](https://glippi.dev/projects/horaluz): Spain’s hourly electricity price on the PVPC tariff, at a glance (in Spanish, *las horas baratas de la luz, de un vistazo*): green is cheap, red is expensive, and the day’s cheapest window is already marked. Official prices from Red Eléctrica (REE) open data; peninsular Spain only, since REE publishes no hourly PVPC for the Balearic or Canary Islands, Ceuta or Melilla. Today’s chart is free for good. HoraLuz Plus, a one-time purchase, adds an hourly heatmap pinned in the notification shade, tomorrow’s prices as soon as REE publishes them, and reminders for the cheapest window. Android 8+, no account, no ads; not affiliated with REE. Package `app.horaluz` on [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.horaluz). - [Mercè](https://glippi.dev/projects/merce): Unofficial companion guide to La Mercè, Barcelona’s September festival: the whole programme by day and strand (music, tradition, fireworks, street arts, museums, fairs, family), what’s on right now, and search across every event, place and artist. Works offline, in Català, Castellano and English, on Android 8+. Free; Mercè Pro, a one-time purchase, adds live distance and compass bearing to every venue, reminders that re-arm themselves when an event moves, and calendar export (one tap or an .ics file) without calendar permission. No account, no ads, no tracking; not affiliated with the Ajuntament de Barcelona. Package `dev.glippi.merce` on [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dev.glippi.merce). - [₿launcher](https://glippi.dev/projects/blauncher): ₿launcher (Blauncher): “digital minimalism, Bitcoin maximalism”. A text-only Android home-screen launcher showing pinned apps, the time, the date and the live Bitcoin price, with no icons, feed or wallpaper. Four gestures and no menus; search launches an app on the first unique match. Apps can be grouped behind one word, renamed, hidden, kept stealth (reachable only by typing their exact name) or locked behind biometrics or the device PIN. Twenty locales, right-to-left included. Free with no ads; a one-time unlock adds groups, custom names, the three privacy modes, world clocks and Bitcoin Pro (USD, EUR, GBP, JPY). No wallet, no keys; the only automatic network request is the Bitcoin price from Coinbase, made while the home screen is visible. Android 8+. Package `app.blauncher` on [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.blauncher). - [Fewest](https://glippi.dev/projects/fewest): Minimalist Android launcher built around opening distracting apps less: a quiet home screen, deliberate friction where it helps, and the rest of your apps kept private and out of sight, with a view of what they do when you’re not looking, such as which ones carry tracker code. No ads, no analytics, no account. Has its own site, [getfewest.app](https://getfewest.app/). Package `app.fewest` on [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.fewest). - [GPS Genius](https://glippi.dev/projects/gpsgenius): GNSS diagnostics and GPS test app for Android 8+ that answers the question other GPS apps leave to you: is this position any good? A plain-language verdict (Excellent ≤ 5 m, Good ≤ 10 m, Fair ≤ 25 m, Weak beyond that), a live sky plot of GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou, QZSS and SBAS satellites, per-signal detail, an accuracy test, nine live diagnostic tools, and unlimited saved places and sessions. Simple and Pro modes are both free; a one-time unlock adds GPX and CSV export, a PDF GNSS health report, NMEA capture and backups. Foreground only, no background location, and nothing leaves the phone. Package `dev.glippi.gpsgenius` on [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dev.glippi.gpsgenius). - [Soonest](https://glippi.dev/projects/soonest): Private, free calendar for Android 8+ — “what matters, soonest”. Far-away days stay quiet and what’s close grows warmer: Up next gives today one hero, with a live countdown that turns gold when it’s soon and purple when it’s now, and a Join button when a video call is about to start. Events live in Android’s own calendar storage, so it works with every account already on the phone (Google, Exchange, DAVx⁵ for any CalDAV server) and keeps a calendar on the device for people with no account. Day, week, month and year views; new events typed the way you’d say them (“Lunch with Ana fri 1pm @ Luigi’s for 90m”), parsed on the device; “Share when I’m free” as plain text through the share sheet; reminders, countdowns (a Live Update on Android 16), a home-screen widget, .ics import and export, and AppFunctions so assistants can add events. Drawn in Fewest’s palette and type, or the wallpaper’s colours. No INTERNET permission, no account, no ads, no tracking, no subscriptions; free, and English only. Package `app.soonest`, coming soon to Google Play. ## Site - [Home](https://glippi.dev/): who Gabriele is, the apps, the principles, and how to hire him. - [Hire me](https://glippi.dev/hire): contract work — what he can do for you, how he works with AI, availability, languages and questions. - [Projects](https://glippi.dev/projects): every app, with its Google Play link, legal documents, and open-source work. - [About](https://glippi.dev/about): background, from philosophy to software craftsmanship to AI, and experience. - [CV](https://glippi.dev/cv): experience in detail, most recent first, with education and skills. - [Blog](https://glippi.dev/blog): ClojureScript and the web. “Manage compilation errors in shadow-cljs” covers keeping hot reload alive through a Figwheel-to-shadow-cljs migration; “Let’s build a ClojureScript PWA” goes from an empty shadow-cljs project to an installable Reagent app. ## Code and profiles - [GitHub](https://github.com/glippi): experiments, small tools and open-source contributions. - [cljs-pwa](https://github.com/glippi/cljs-pwa): the example project for “Let’s build a ClojureScript PWA”. - [Logseq](https://github.com/logseq/logseq): open-source knowledge-management outliner written in ClojureScript; Gabriele has merged contributions. - [Penpot](https://github.com/penpot/penpot): open-source design and prototyping platform built in Clojure and ClojureScript; Gabriele has merged contributions. - [LinkedIn](https://es.linkedin.com/in/gabrielelippi) - [X](https://x.com/glippi) - [Google Play developer page](https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=Gabriele+Lippi): every live app. ## Optional - [Cachette privacy policy](https://glippi.dev/projects/cachette/privacy-policy): no network permission; nothing collected or shared. - [Cachette terms](https://glippi.dev/projects/cachette/terms) - [HoraLuz privacy policy](https://glippi.dev/projects/horaluz/privacy-policy): public price requests to Red Eléctrica and Google Play Billing, nothing else. - [HoraLuz terms](https://glippi.dev/projects/horaluz/terms) - [Mercè privacy policy](https://glippi.dev/projects/merce/privacy-policy): a programme update check and Google Play Billing; location used on the device only. - [Mercè terms](https://glippi.dev/projects/merce/terms) - [₿launcher privacy policy](https://glippi.dev/projects/blauncher/privacy-policy): the Coinbase price request and Google Play Billing; nothing about your apps leaves the phone. - [₿launcher terms](https://glippi.dev/projects/blauncher/terms) - [Fewest privacy policy](https://getfewest.app/privacy): hosted on Fewest’s own site. - [GPS Genius privacy policy](https://glippi.dev/projects/gpsgenius/privacy-policy): Google Play Billing, and Android’s own A-GPS assistance only when you ask for it. - [GPS Genius terms](https://glippi.dev/projects/gpsgenius/terms) - [Soonest privacy policy](https://glippi.dev/projects/soonest/privacy-policy): no internet permission; events stay in Android’s calendar storage, and only what you send through the share sheet leaves. - [Soonest terms](https://glippi.dev/projects/soonest/terms) - [Sitemap](https://glippi.dev/sitemap.xml)
